Excellence Center

Having undertaken over 5000+ installations across verticals and geographies in the last two decades, O2K is one of the leading AV system integrators for offering cost-effective, feasible and user-friendly AV solutions.

Background

A mining company in Australia wanted to create an excellence center where live data from the mines could be visualized.

Requirements :

To create an AV Studio that houses :

  • Capture data from the mines and display it live, in the data center.
  • Create different zones inside the centre:
    • Collaboration Zone – For discussions, which involve annotation and multi-site collaboration.
    • Video Conference Zone – For interacting with the team in the mines.
    • Monitoring Area – For real-time data monitoring.
  • The software display from the remote location should also be controlled from the centre.

Challenges :

  • The software display from the remote location should also be controlled from the centre.
  • The data centre also had to be projected as an experience centre, showcasing its capabilities to its customers.
  • The display should be able to show 12 such live contents simultaneously for monitoring.

Solutions Provided

  • We assessed the existing hardware, acoustics and architectural plan of the mining company in the discovery phase.
  • Monitoring Area – A first of its kind, large interactive video wall, measuring 20ft x 5ft was set up in the Monitoring Area that could interact with multiple live contents simultaneously. The video wall had the following capabilities:
    • Pull content from the remote location (from the virtual machine) over the client network.
    • Display multiple IP cameras for real-time monitoring.
    • Display content from 12 cameras simultaneously.
    • Create pre-sets that allow content to be changed with the press of a button.
    • The displays had the flexibility to change the number of the content displayed. This allowed the user to select the content that required to be highlighted, and project it on the entire wall. This could be changed after the discussion.
  • Video Conference Zone – A dual display with a video conference facility was set up in the Video Conference Zone to connect the centre to the team in the mines. This could also pull out any content displayed on the video wall and share it with the far end for discussion.
    • The video conference could be moved to a large video wall for a larger group of people.
    • Ceiling microphones helped with the audio pickup for the entire room.
  • Collaboration Zone – The interactive display with the collaboration software was set up in the Collaboration Zone for brainstorming.
    • It was capable of pulling out any of the content from the video wall to the collaboration display for discussion.
    • It could also share the content via the collaboration tool, enabling multi-site collaboration.
